Ms. Laurie A. Dunne, BS, CPA, CIA

Ms. Dunne attended the University of Scranton and King’s College, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. She has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1997 and earned her Certified Internal Auditor designation in 1999. She began her career as a corporate auditor for Litton Industries, a Fortune 500 company in Cranford, New Jersey, and later worked for Loral Corporation, another Fortune 500 company, in Manhattan.
She was hired as a Corporate Audit Manager of The Loewen Group and was employed here until the North Eastern location was closed and all operations were moved to the company’s headquarters. During her employment, she was responsible for hiring new auditors, assisting management with developing audit programs and strengthening internal controls, and conducting acquisition and fraud investigations. She was retained as a consultant for approximately six months until the transition to the parent company was completed. During this time, she was instrumental in assisting with the final wrap up and dissolution of operations.
Ms. Dunne worked as a consultant for several prominent public accounting firms and private staffing companies, providing audit, tax, and accounting services before joining John J. Heck & Associates. She now serves as the firm’s sole member and leads its day-to-day operations, continuing the commitment to knowledgeable, personalized service on which the firm was built.
Drawing on her extensive experience in public and corporate accounting, Ms. Dunne provides individual, trust, and business tax preparation, tax research, estate and executrix services, and accounting support for small businesses. She remains actively involved in client engagements and in the ongoing management of the firm.
Professional experience and accomplishments include:
- Served as Executrix of a million dollar estate of a former high net worth tax client
- Recovered of over $100,000 through fraud investigations
- Wrote and contributed questions for the Certified Management Accountant Exam
- Prepared lease abstracts for commercial real estate properties
- Prepared Offer-in-Compromise (OIC) for qualifying clients
- Received an Outstanding Excellence in Journalism Award
- Diverse accounting experience health care, brokerage, cemeteries and funeral homes, defense, energy, and real estate.
Outside work interests include horsemanship, botany, and farm animal rescue and rehabilitation services. She was appointed honorary Treasurer of the Delaware Valley Iris Society for a five-year term and previously volunteered at Valley Forge National Park in their Equestrian Ambassador Program. Laurie managed a small, private Farm Sanctuary for chickens, based on availability at her Farm. She has also rehabilitated and provided temporary housing to rescue horses in need of a quiet place to recover from abuse and neglect.
Laurie participates in ACCT Philly’s Dog Foster Program. She continues to foster dogs in need of a quiet place to rest and recuperate at her farm as her schedule permits. She is an avid walker and hiker and enjoys spending time outdoors with close friends and her rescue dog, Livy. Additional interests include suspense and crime novels and spending time at the mountains or the beach after busy season.

We are honored that so many of those clients remain with the firm today.
John J. Heck & Associates proudly continues under the same name and with the same commitment to personal service, professional guidance, and fair pricing that John established. His legacy is carried forward by his wife, Laurie Dunne, CPA, who is the sole member of the firm and remains actively involved in its management and service to its clients.
